For students who've returned from the Emanuel School's Jilkminggan (Jilk) experience, the Tikkun Giving Circle is a chance to keep the connection alive, and act on it. Rooted in the Jewish values of Tzedakah (charitable giving) and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), this program transforms the bonds formed in the Northern Territory into real-world impact for First Nations communities.
Over four months, participants come together to fundraise, learn, deliberate, and collectively choose where their money goes. It's philanthropy with purpose, led by students.
How It Works
1. Learn
Across three facilitated sessions, you'll explore Jewish values and First Nations wisdom, visit Indigenous organisations, and experience Aboriginal cultural practices first-hand.
2. Fundraise
Each participant sets a fundraising goal of $180 (10 × Chai - the Hebrew word for life). Students are encouraged to raise funds creatively: through baking, washing cars, walking dogs, busking, lemonade stands, etc.
3. Give
Participants come together to collectively decide how to allocate funds raised towards First Nations-led projects.
