Derech Eretz Application Form July 2022

Since 2005, Stand Up has facilitated the Derech Eretz program (meaning 'the Way of the Land') in Toomelah and Boggabilla. Derech Eretz is the trip of a lifetime—an opportunity for Jewish adults aged 18-30 to engage with and learn from our First Nations partners while running holiday support programs.

Derech Eretz began in 2005 as a means of building a sustainable relationship with a First Nations community that would simultaneously allow for intensive engagement and learning for participants and provide useful services to the community. Derech Eretz occurs twice a year, over the summer and winter school holidays. Activities that participants run for kids include sport, arts and crafts, swimming and youth leadership workshops.

Derech Eretz is the first step in the chain of our First Nations partnership. It's where new participants can come and build rapport with kids, encourage positive peer support dynamics and build the foundation for a generation-long friendship with Toomelah and Boggabilla's youth.
