Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some frequently asked questions about the Friends of Toomelah and Boggabilla program.

The program is supported by Stand Up - the same organisation that supports the Jewish Mob to run programs in Toomelah and Bogga.

Anyone from Toomelah or Boggabilla who is organising a project or event can apply for funding.

The funding can only be used to support projects and events that benefit the community.

For example:

  • Are you running an event or activity for Elders or young people in community? You could ask the Fund for money to help pay for the activities or food/catering.
  • Have you been invited to an important event, to talk about issues that affect the community? You could ask the Fund to help pay for travel costs, to support you to attend.

You can apply for the amount of funding that you need for your project/event. There is no set amount. In the application form, you will need to explain what the money will be used for.

We suggest that most applications will be between $250-$500.

The allocation has a total of $3,500 that can be spent during the year. It is important to make sure there is enough money available for the whole year.

The program will also give priority to people who haven’t applied before. This is to give everyone a fair opportunity to apply.

Regular personal expenses.

The money must be put towards something that involves and benefits the community.

Your application will go to an Advisory Committee that includes people who work for Stand Up and some of the Jewish Mob team. It is not up to one person to decide. The committee members have to vote on every application.

There are specific criteria about what the program can and can’t pay for. There is also a limit on what the program can spend.

The program may agree to pay for all of an application or may only be able to pay for part of the funding asked for.

Sometimes the program will have to say no to an application. If that happens, then we will try to suggest other places that you could approach for support.

You can fill in the form on Stand Up’s website, or email [email protected], where you can make a time to submit an application over the phone together.

The program will try to make a decision quickly, but it can take some time. It’s good to apply as soon as you can, so that we can make a decision before your event/project starts.

It’s a good idea to speak with Tahlia 0407434241 (or someone in the Jewish Mob) before you apply.
