Holiday Programs

< back

Providing opportunities for Sudanese children and their parents to discover and explore places in Melbourne and surrounding towns, and having a fun, educational experience during the school holidays.

The Holiday Program provides opportunities for Sudanese children and their mothers to discover and explore places in metropolitan Melbourne and surrounding towns. Challenges to many such outings include: financial constraints, English language barriers, large families, lack of local knowledge and intimidation when faced with new experiences.

Through Stand Up holiday programs participants develop confidence and skills by being exposed to new experiences and opportunities to explore Melbourne in a non-threatening manner. They are also equipped with the skills and knowledge to be active members of the Melbourne community.

Holiday programs include set activities in the Dandenong area, as well as day trips to places including the Melbourne Museum, Melbourne Zoo and Sovereign Hill.

Stand Up also runs a community picnic each year celebrating our friendship with the Darfur and Nuba Mountains communities.

What: Holiday programs and outings with the children and families from Darfur and Nuba Mountains.
Where: Metropolitan Melbourne, Dandenong area and surrounds.

When: School holidays and weekends.
