Stand Up envisions an Australian Jewish community actively pursuing social justice for all. Our three key areas are:
Empowering and supporting Sudanese refugees from Darfur and the Nuba Mountains by providing capacity building programs such as homework clubs, women’s groups and leadership programs. These programs address the challenges newly arrived refugees encounter such as social isolation, language barriers and lack of employment opportunities.
Building long term relationships with remote Aboriginal communities, primarily through youth engagement. Programs include school holiday activities and leadership workshops for youth and young adults. Programs are developed in collaboration with the elders of our partner communities.
Providing innovative and inspiring education programs for the Jewish community on social justice themes with a strong focus on action. Engaging the Jewish community at large in discussions about what is our responsibility to the world and how we can effect positive change.
